Celebrity’s Try Star promise to strip naked and do the full monty if they win – The Sun



X FACTOR: Celebrity’s Try Star have promised to bare it all if they win the ITV singing competition.
The band – made up of rugby stars Ben Foden, 34, Levi Davis, 21, and Thom Evans, 34 – haven’t been afraid to show a little skin following a string of raunchy routines.

Speaking exclusively to the Sun Online, Ben admitted he’s thought about doing the full monty, saying: “I’ve definitely had a dream where I’m naked on stage and people are laughing at me and stuff.”
Levi added: “If you voted for us to get in the final, then I think we would pay you by a big performance. I don’t know what that would be yet.”
Ben joked: “Depends how well the performance is going. We’ve thought about it.”

Bath United player Levi continued: “I feel like this show isn’t purely about the singing. Everybody is great and we’ve said before. We may not be the best vocalists, but I hope we’re improving every week and you guys respect that. We want to put a show on for you.”
The hunky boy band members were forced to tone down previous performance after show bosses feared they were too sexy for TV.
Their first audition, which took place in Simon Cowell’s Malibu mansion, particularly got viewers hot under.

Last week, it was reported Scottish national player Thom Evans had been wooing judge Nicole behind the scenes.
The show’s US judge — who split from tennis ace Grigor Dimitrov this year — enjoyed a romantic evening with the former rugby star in London recently.
Insiders say the pair flirted and texted for weeks before Thom finally asked out the 41-year-old singer.

An ITV source said: “Thom is completely Nicole’s type. And for his part, Thom was smitten early on — he’s always said Nicole is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
“He fancied her long before meeting her on the show. He was initially a bit nervous about starting something up, and ruining his chances on the series, but they had great chemistry from the off.
“And after weeks of texting, Thom finally plucked up the courage to ask her out, and took her for dinner.”

A video has been going viral on internet which shows Pakistani actor Ali Rehman yelling at a local restaurant staff.
In a video, Ali can be seen ordering himself a meal at a famous fast food chain. However, he is seen shouting at the cashier. In the clip, Ali says, “Do you know who I am? Have you ever seen me on TV? You are an employee and your job is to listen to me. I’m paying.”
Throughout the video, the cashier is also trying to calm Ali down and asking him not to get upset. As of now, it’s still unclear as to why Ali reacted the way he did.

How to Write a LinkedIn Recommendation in 2019 [Quick Tip]



“Lisa has recommended you!”

Awww, she has?!
When I get a LinkedIn recommendation from someone I respect and admire professionally, I feel both honored and encouraged to return the favor. But for some reason, I always get writer’s block. I never know how to start or what to say — only that I like this person’s work and I want others to know it.
Unfortunately, simply writing “Lisa is the best!!!!” isn’t reflective of Lisa’s skills — plus it makes you look like a total goon.
Luckily, in the past few weeks I’ve written a couple of LinkedIn recommendations that I think turned out pretty well, and they reflected a pattern that’s easy to replicate in subsequent recommendations. I thought I’d share that pattern with others that suffer the same writer’s block.

Here’s a quick little “template” you can use that makes for a LinkedIn recommendation that’s specific, honest, succinct, and helpful for the person you’re recommending.

How to Write a LinkedIn Recommendation

Explain the nature of your professional relationship.
Provide details of the position for which you’re recommending the person.
Explain how they’ve grown at the company.
Indicate how their contribution helped grow the team or company.
Explain what these achievements reveal about that person.
End with a note about the personal aspect of working with him/her.

1. Explain the nature of your professional relationship.
That sounds really serious, but it’s simply a helpful piece of context that acts as an “intro” for your recommendation. Whether it’s a coworker you’ve worked closely with for years, a manager, a direct report, a point of contact at an agency, or something else entirely, it sets the stage for the reader to learn why you’re writing this recommendation.
For Example:
I’ve worked alongside Lisa for close to two years now.
2. Provide details of the position for which you’re recommending the person.
Are you recommending this person for their work in one position? Or are you writing about their work across multiple jobs they’ve held while you worked with them? Either way, a great next step is to explain some of the notable parts of their job(s). It may feel strange — kind of like you’re listing out their job description. But this is very helpful for anyone reading the recommendation, looking to get a feel for what precisely it is they did in their job.
Resist the urge to create a laundry list of their job duties. If they’ve really worn that many hats, I recommend contacting them to see if there’s a certain part of their role they’d like emphasized over others.
For Example:
In those two years, I’ve seen her not only excel at the core elements of her job — like copywriting and copyediting — but also learn other tasks that extend well beyond the scope of her role, like email marketing, event planning, and even championing our company’s internal communications.
3. Explain how they’ve grown at the company.
If this person reports (or once reported) to you, this aspect of a LinkedIn recommendation can go a long way. Explaining how the person you’re recommending has grown — either in their role or from one role to another — can demonstrate an ability to adapt as the organization expands.
Just be careful not to overstate any low points in the person’s career that can dilute the value of the growth you’re trying to highlight.
For Example:
Lisa has grown as quickly as our business has, and her willingness to learn and take on these new responsibilities is something to be desired in any professional.
4. Indicate how their contribution helped grow the team or company.
This could be an explanation of how their performance helped hit hard metrics, or it could demonstrate a contribution toward more esoteric things, like leading their teammates or fostering new initiatives.
For Example:
Lisa’s mastery for both her core role, and the projects that extend beyond it, have been critical to the company’s growth. In fact, her taking on internal company communication aligned with a sharp increase in employee happiness.
5. Explain what these achievements reveal about that person.
By now, you’ve included some specifics — so let’s explain what those specifics mean for the larger theme of your recommendation. Do the examples you’ve detailed reveal that person is hard-working? Ambitious? Great for team morale? Connect their accomplishments with their attributes.
For Example:
This rare mix of productivity and ambition sets a great example for the rest of the team, and explains why everyone loves working with Lisa — no matter where they fall on the org chart.
6. End with a note about the personal aspect of working with him/her.
In this section, hit the message home with a mention of how you felt working with the person, your hopes for their career, or simply a prediction about their future.
For Example:
While Lisa’s work has continued to pay dividends long past her tenure here, I certainly miss working with her every day. I have only optimistic predictions for her career trajectory.

In the recommendation below, a person discusses how their supervisor progressed at the company and how this person mentored them so they too could grow as an employee.

LinkedIn Recommendation Sample (for a Manager)
Now, writing a LinkedIn recommendation can seem easier said than done. What if the employee you’re recommending is your superior? This can make it more difficult to recommend the person — even if you’re saying stellar things about them.
To avoid sounding patronizing or tone deaf when addressing a higher-level professional, here’s a sample LinkedIn recommendation — written in full — that a manager would be proud to receive (notice how it embraces every step outlined above).
I’ve worked for Lisa for two years, and in those two years, I’ve seen her quickly take on new responsibilities while having the time to teach this information back into her employees. By inheriting tasks like campaign analytics and email A/B testing — both of which extend beyond the scope of our team — she’s made our department much more agile, and set me up for a promotion last month. Lisa is as great a person as she was a manager, and her next employer will be lucky to have her.
Now proofread, and hit send. Remember, the recipient has the opportunity to review and request changes to your recommendation, so if you’re concerned you haven’t written a recommendation in the most helpful way possible, they can still get in touch with edit requests.

The 36-year-old singer joined Nicola Roberts at super-posh Bagatelle where they enjoyed cocktails and a towering cake until the early hours of the morning.

How Sujan Patel Used a Growth Mindset to Increase Views by 8 Million



While every business owner likely realizes the integral role marketing plays in a business’s overall success, marketing for marketing’s sake isn’t going to get you anywhere — there has to be a clear strategy and focus behind it.
In my 17+ years of online marketing, I’ve seen far too many businesses lose focus on the bottom line when it comes to their content strategies.
Fortunately, a healthy blend of marketing, sales, and customer success helps you maintain a “growth mindset”, or a laser-sharp focus on your goals.
Essentially, a growth mindset is an experimental and data-driven approach to growing your business and leveraging all the marketing channels at your disposal.
By using a growth marketing mindset approach myself, I was able to help drive 8.2 million unique users to my clients’ sites last year alone.
Here, I’m going to show you how you can achieve real growth by focusing on what’s working for you — and ditching the rest.

The 3 Vital Elements of Growth Marketing
1. Focus on the most important and relevant metrics for your business.
The sheer number of metrics that you could measure can be completely overwhelming. But data is only as good as the conclusions you draw from it. That’s why it’s essential to focus on the most important and relevant metrics for your business so you can address your weaknesses and grow.
So how can you identify the metrics you should be tracking? It can be helpful to start at the end and work backwards. For instance, start with your business goals. What are the mechanisms by which you’ll generate revenue? This will incorporate a combination of product development goals and marketing goals.
Let’s say, for instance, that one of your major marketing goals is to generate revenue via your website. Next, you’ll want to identify your website goals — which KPIs are most useful for tracking progress toward these goals? Think about what weaknesses you need to overcome, and — once your strategy for doing so is in place — identify the metrics needed to track the progress of your tactics. Look at the marketing channels that perform best for you, and the most relevant metrics to measure them.
Ultimately, the channels you use will significantly affect the metrics you should be measuring.
For example, marketers using paid social posts need to look at followers, likes, click-throughs, and engagement rates. Alternatively, if you’re focused on email marketing, open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates are king. Lastly, if you’re interested in focusing on SEO, measure traffic growth, changes in keyword rankings, and the number of new backlinks.
Once you’ve identified your most valuable metrics, rip off the bandage and ditch the rest. I’ve found that if you can’t count your metrics on one hand, that’s generally too many to effectively monitor.
A good example of this is my email finder tool, Voila Norbert. We found that our best customers (highest LTV) were on a $49 or $99 subscription. We have higher-priced plans and annual plans, but our customers with the $49 and $99 plans stick around the longest.
As a result of this realization, we made it our goal to increase the number of customers on those two plans. It wasn’t easy — it changed pretty much all of our tactics.
For instance, we no longer needed salespeople (because those two plans are self-service), we changed our strategy to focus on traffic sources targeted at those customers, and we killed our partner program.
All of this helped us stay focused on a handful of marketing and sales activities that were driving the growth of those two plans. An added bonus?
We reduced our marketing and sales spend by 35% and our time by 50%, allowing us to double down on our efforts and grow the company faster.
2. Know your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to marketing.
Identify your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to both marketing and product. Ask yourself where the weaknesses are within your metrics. What tactics are clearly not working for you at the moment? On the flip side, what does your company have that others don’t?
Over 65% of content marketers report having a clear, documented content marketing process. It’s vital you create a strategy for leveraging your strengths and overcoming your weaknesses within that framework.
Alternatively, perhaps you need to go back to the drawing board to tweak your value proposition. Maybe you simply don’t have good product-market fit, and a rethink is needed.
Common weaknesses that hinder growth include:
A lack of traffic
A low conversion rate
Customer churn
From the very beginning at Mailshake, our strengths have been word-of-mouth and simplicity of product. That’s the thing people love about us — our competitors’ weakness is that their tools are very complex, but we’ve built something incredibly simple.
To leverage your strengths, a robust framework is key.
The Bullseye Framework is my preferred model, because it’s so target-driven. Within the framework, the outer ring contains what’s possible for your business (your moonshots), the middle ring focuses on what’s probable (potential big future performers), and the inner ring outlines what’s working (your three most prominent channels).

If your main focuses (in the middle of the ring) don’t align with the channels that are working for you once you’ve analyzed the data, it’s time for a rethink. Focusing on proven top tactics is vital.
As billionaire PayPal founder and early Facebook investor Peter Thiel says — “Most businesses actually get zero distribution channels to work. Poor distribution — not product — is the number one cause of failure. If you can get even a single distribution channel to work, you have a great business. If you try for several but don’t nail one, you’re finished. So it’s worth thinking really hard about finding the single best distribution channel.”
3. Get buy-in from teams throughout your business.
It’s easy to build a product that customers don’t want or don’t know how to use, because the people building the product are typically the furthest from the customer. This is why it’s essential to secure buy-in for your growth marketing strategy from teams throughout your organization.
The big win here is leveraging customer-facing teams. Of course you’ll need buy-in from your management team and other departments, too, but I’ve found the most valuable departments to work with on growth marketing are:
Sales
Development
Product
Support
The sales, business development, and support teams are already talking to customers, so it’s critical you listen to the customer feedback they’re getting. Meanwhile, the development and product teams can help you reduce a friction point, adjust the value proposition, or even build a new feature.

The Sun celebrates 50 years at the top of the league for trailblazing sports coverage – The Sun



AT 9am on November 16, 1969, I walked into The Sun sport department to find a fella on his own moving desks and chairs around.
I was starting as the Boxing and Athletics Correspondent on day one of the spanking-new tabloid the “experts” said would not last six months.

How could I have known it was Rupert Murdoch?
Nor did I have any idea I was embarking on a mind-blowing, 50-year rollercoaster ride to sports-writing paradise — a willing participant in The Sun’s philosophy to cover every major event worldwide.
In a mission statement to readers, our trailblazing Sports Editor — former fighter pilot Frank Nicklin — promised “sport with four rows of teeth”.
In the late Eighties, David Balmforth was in the chair and increased that pledge to “eight rows of teeth”.
So as technology and society changed, our unrivalled sports team evolved and adapted to remain top of the league.
When we launched, increasing TV airtime for sport was rapidly making it more mainstream.
Before, papers had reported on events to tell people what they had missed. But now we needed to tell the stories behind what they had already watched.
STAR COLUMNISTS
In the early days of The Sun, the presses could not wait for night football matches. So Nicklin filled his pages with columnists, letters and features.
Former Editor Bernard Shrimsley said: “Frank was a master of the nostalgia feature. Not only was it not about last night, it was often not about last week, or even last year!”
Newspaper distribution was erratic and it was never certain which regions would get each edition.
So rather than tailoring match reports for certain areas, Monday’s Sun covered every big game comprehensively.
Nicklin explained: “Readers loved it and the Mirror started to copy it, believing we were doing it on purpose.
“In fact we were highly envious of their ability to regionalise.”
There was a time when executives on every Fleet Street paper dismissed sport as the Toy Department. But SunSport changed that by gathering talented specialists and star columnists.
Brian Clough, while manager of Derby County, volunteered his writing services and we took him up on the offer — Nicklin was a Derby fan, after all.

The man I felt sorry for was football writer Frank Clough, assigned the near-impossible task of ghost-writing George Best’s Monday column.
Each weekend, Frank never knew which girl’s duvet George was hiding under. Tracking him down would have tested a Scotland Yard detective.
Manchester United hero George, known as “El Beatle”, was Britain’s first celebrity footballer. His mesmerising talent ensured he was not only idolised at Old Trafford but across the country.
Those who saw him at the height of his powers say he was every bit as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But it was what he got up to off the field that made the handsome Ulsterman front-page as well as back-page news.
Bestie, with that inimitable twinkle in his eye, used to laugh at himself, saying: “In 1969, I gave up women and alcohol. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life.”
Then: “I used to go missing a lot. Miss Canada, Miss UK, Miss World . . .”
The star, a chronic alcoholic, was finished as a top-class player at the ridiculously early age of 27. Booze killed him at 59.
UNIQUE INSIGHT
Expert writers such as Neil Ashton, Peter Batt, Peter Fitton, Steven Howard, Dave Kidd, John Sadler, Martin Samuel and Brian Woolnough have penned unique football insight for SunSport, reporting on the game’s greatest names.
And our Goals pullout, launched in 1991, remains the footballing bible for fans AND players. Football Editor Charlie Wyett says: “We were the first paper to cover every game in all four divisions.
“We still do, as the Football League is as important, if not more so, as the Premier League to many fans.
“We were also first to mark players out of ten. Even now, it is the first thing players look at.
“While at Wimbledon, Vinnie Jones sent our reporter Vikki Orvice away from the training ground because she gave him six out of ten the previous game. He felt he was worth a seven.”
The players grabbing the headlines when The Sun was born were England’s 1966 World Cup winners Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst & Co.
The Seventies saw Best outshine them all, and other megastars followed such as Paul Gascoigne and David Beckham.
An influx of sublime foreign players including Eric Cantona and Thierry Henry brought grace to our national game, even if Cantona did kung-fu kick a Crystal Palace fan in 1995 after being sent off. Henry later became a columnist for both The Sun and The Sun on Sunday.

Shortly before her death in February this year, Vikki said: “I am proud to have had my career at The Sun. It’s the cutting edge of football journalism.
“A lot of footballers read it. Even Usain Bolt reads it online in Jamaica to get his football news.”
And Olympic legend Bolt is not the only superstar Sun reader.
Charlie Wyett says: “When Andy Murray broke on to the tennis scene in 2005, he told Sue Barker, in a live TV interview at Wimbledon, The Sun was the only paper he ever read. Needless to say, we started sponsoring him.”
The Sun followed cricket closely from day one. Launch Editor Larry Lamb came from the same village as Geoff Boycott, Fitzwilliam in West Yorks, and the England batsman often contributed to the paper. Later, Ian Botham and Graeme Swann were columnists.
Sun veteran John Etheridge, cricket correspondent since 1993, is one of the most respected voices in the sport.
Boxing has always been big in The Sun. And I was fortunate that my career coincided with Muhammad Ali and the Golden Age of heavyweights.
SENSATIONAL EXCLUSIVE
Being on the road for ten years with The Greatest from 1971 to 1981, I got close to the most tantalising and charismatic sports personality of the 20th Century, an experience no billionaire could buy.
I laughed through most of the thousands of miles I travelled with him. But my most poignant interview with Ali was the one I least expected.
In 1984, I was outside the Hilton gift shop in Vegas when Ali appeared, alone and wanting to chat.
It had just been announced that he was suffering from Parkinson’s.
As I commiserated with him, he told me without a trace of bitterness: “I am not afraid to die. God gave me Parkinson’s to show me I am just a man like everyone else. To show I have frailties like everyone else.
“Because that is all I am — a man. If I die I have no regrets. I have tried to live a good life and do the right thing. But I am not scared to die because I have made my peace.”
Those words made for a sensational exclusive in The Sun the next day. But being around the likes of Ali, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Ken Norton, Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Joe Frazier, Frank Bruno and Mike Tyson did not mean every encounter made it into print.
That included the time heavyweight champ Foreman launched into a furious tirade after noticing I was smoking as I arrived for an interview.

Then he took exception to the first question I asked and the palm of his right hand, the size of a shovel, was coming in my direction to give me a slap. Thankfully his publicist dived between us and saved me from a hospital visit. Later, George and I became good friends.
He gave me a copy of his autobiography and signed it: “To Colin Hart. Put that cigarette out. Smile. Best Wishes, George Foreman. The champ.”
It is among my most precious pieces of memorabilia. Another left-field coming-together was when Mike Tyson sat with me in a Vegas coffee shop in 1987, soon after he became world champion, when he was madly in love with TV star Robin Givens.
Without any prompting, Mike unburdened himself about their volatile relationship. He moaned that they never stopped arguing because she was pushing him to get married.
He said: “I’m 21, I don’t want to settle down.” He told me their rows often turned violent and she used to hurt him. I said: “Come off it, Mike — she’s a flyweight. How can you expect anyone to believe she can hurt you?”
He sheepishly replied: “She kicks me in the nuts.”
Tyson did marry Robin in 1988 but they divorced on Valentine’s Day 1989. He later admitted punching her.ICONIC HEADLINES
Tragedy struck when I was covering the 1972 Olympics in Munich, as 13 members of the Israeli team were murdered by Palestinian terrorists. To be caught up in such horror has left its scars.
But I have happier memories of athletics from covering eight Olympics, seven World Championships, seven European Championships and eight Commonwealth Games.
Watching Seb Coe and Steve Ovett battling it out for middle-distance supremacy in Moscow in 1980 provided some of the most thrilling moments in Olympic history.
And who could fail to be uplifted by the track and field exploits of Carl Lewis, Linford Christie, Daley Thompson, Michael Johnson, Brendan Foster, Dave Bedford, Sally Gunnell, Kelly Holmes, Sergey Bubka and Colin Jackson, to name just a few I warmed to?
The Sun’s superb sub-editors never miss a chance to captivate readers with the most iconic headlines.
My favourite was after England lost 2–1 to Sweden in the 1992 European Championship. Our headline boomed SWEDES 2, TURNIPS 1.
And for pure genius, with apologies to Mary Poppins, when Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Celtic 3–1 in the Scottish Cup, the headline was SUPER CALEY GO BALLISTIC, CELTIC ARE ATROCIOUS.
Former Editor Stuart Higgins says: “The Sun’s always been on its game with headlines — the humour and edginess.
“When West Ham defender Julian Dicks was ruled out of the team, Sports Editor Paul Ridley wrote SWOLLEN DICKS OUT. It was rude and risqué but it captured the spirit of The Sun. Football fans loved that kind of headline. You might not get away with it now!”

And once, he really had. Alan, who retired in February 2019 after 36 years at The Sun, remembers: “I used to do some boxing writing and Paul Ridley decided it would make a great feature if I spent time following Bruno in the build-up to the fight against Joe Bugner in 1987.
“Rids also wanted me to get HIT by Bruno so I ‘could tell the readers what it felt like’. My answer was along the lines of ‘No way!’
“I did, however, hold the heavy punch bag while Bruno hammered away at it — and even then he moved me backwards.”
The Sun launched racing pullout They’re Off in 1996, with jump jockey Tony McCoy as a columnist and racing titan Claude Duval, a Sun man since day one, bringing racing news.
In 2002 the pullout was renamed The Favourite and is still going strong, with 12 pages every Saturday.
Racing Editor David Cook says: “It is vital reading for punters who rely on the world’s most famous tipster, Templegate, to give them big-race winners.”
Templegate made the front-page splash in March 2007 when he tipped all seven winners at a televised Sandown meeting, hitting bookies for £5million.
The tipster — who was then Phil Logan from Belfast — won fortunes for Sun readers who backed his selections, which had combined odds of 14,322–1. Punter Archie Evans, from Newport, South Wales, scooped nearly £700,000.

There is not enough room to list all the sporting cheers — and tears — of the past five decades. Sports fans will all have opinions, and who am I to argue?

The same could be said about sport in general. I am just grateful to have been centre-stage at some of the most remarkable events of all time and can come to only one conclusion: I’d do it all again tomorrow.

Google Docs is a completely free, cross-platform (syncs documents across phones, tablets, and desktops) word processor that works both online and offline. All you need is a Google account, the same free account that you use for your G Suite or Gmail.

Google Docs vs. Microsoft Word

Whether you choose Google Docs or Microsoft Word, it’s not difficult to sync the two. You can create a new Google Doc by simply uploading an existing Word file. Here’s how.
Open your Google Drive and click New.

Tap File upload to access the files saved on your computer.
Choose your Word file from your computer and click Open. This will upload your file to your Google Drive. Once uploaded, double-click it to open. Once open, click Google Docs from the drop-down menu at the top.

Collaborating in Google Docs
There are a plethora of tips and tricks that users can take advantage of while using Google Docs — whether working as an individual or with a team.
Google Docs allows multiple people to work, collaborate, and edit within a single document in real-time through any web browser. Here’s how.
Sharing Your Google Doc
Individuals can share their document with as many people as they want, as well as edit their permissions to limit what they can do.
To get started sharing, click File > Share.
There are four sharing options — the one you pick is totally your choice.
1. Create a shareable link.
The simplest way to share a Google Docs page is to generate a shareable link. This allows anyone to click a unique URL and view your document.
After clicking Share, tap the Get Shareable Link button in the top right corner.
Select a sharing permission for your document.
After defining permissions, press Copy link.
The URL will then be copied to your clipboard for you to send to anyone who wishes to view the document.
2. Share via email address.
You also have the option to share your document with an email address. This will send an invite to that person’s inbox, and add the document to their Google account.
To do this, head back to the sharing box.
Enter the email address of the person you’d like to share your document with and select an option from the drop-down to edit their permissions.

If you add a note to this invite, it will be displayed in the email invitation.
3. Choose the advanced sharing options.
Head back to your sharing box and hit Advanced.
Here, you can see all sharing settings — including who has access to your document, their permission settings, and the option to invite more people or remove others.

4. Make your document editable by anyone.
Want to grant anyone permission to edit the contents of your document? Hit File > Share to get your shareable link.

In the drop-down menu displayed, click More…

After that, choose On — Anyone with the link and set the permissions in the bottom drop-down menu.

As this option clearly states, anyone with your unique URL will be able to make changes, edit, and even delete your document … so be careful about who you’re sharing it with.

Creating and Writing in Google Docs
Which Google Docs features will help you and your team create powerful documents, no matter your location? Here are some options for you to try.

Work Offline
A bonus to using Google Docs is that you’re able to edit, save, and create documents through your web browser even when you’re not connected to the internet. This might come in handy if you need to get some work done while traveling. The changes you make are still saved and will sync when you go back online.
But, this isn’t an automatic feature. You’ll need to set-up offline connections in your account.
To do this, visit the Google Docs homepage and locate the menu button on the left-hand side.
Then press Settings.
A pop-up box will then be visible on your screen. To set up offline editing, toggle the Offline button to On. (This should turn the button blue, rather than gray.)

Your browser will then adjust to offline editing and you’ll see the following icon when editing your document without internet.

Voice Typing
Voice technology is a growing industry, and Google has been at the forefront of this trend. You can speed up your writing process by using voice typing in Google Docs.
To use the feature, begin by checking your device settings to confirm that your microphone works.
Then head to Tools > Voice Typing. You’ll see a microphone icon.

Click it and start speaking. Google will convert your spoken words into text, which you’ll see appear on the page.

Google Docs App
With the Google Docs app, users can continue to edit, share, collaborate in real-time, add images, and create content all while on-the-go.
The free app even works offline once you’ve turned on that setting — the same way you did on your laptop or desktop — and it automatically saves your work to the Cloud.

Explore
Have you ever been writing about a topic and stopped to think, “Wow, I could use a suggestion or two on how to improve my piece.”
Google Docs has you covered.
The Explore feature — found by clicking Tools > Explore — Google Docs will scan the content you provide and suggest information that you could add to your piece.
These suggestions might include details you may have forgotten, images to enhance your piece, or possible research that you could include to back your points and claims.

Formatting Your Document in Google Docs
Google Docs empowers you to create a document that works for you and the content you’re creating. Whether it’s the page orientation, images, or page numbers, these tips will help you format your document any way you want.

Changing Page Margins
If you’re looking to make the most of the blank space in your document or format your document for printing, you might need to change the margins.
Before doing this, you’ll need to make sure the ruler is visible above your document.
Simply head to View > Show Ruler.
You should see a ruler below the formatting bar in your document.
Then, to change the margins of your page, locate the small blue button on the left-hand side of the ruler and slide the button to alter your left margin.
To change your right margin in Google Docs, repeat this process using the blue button on the right side of your ruler.

If you need strict margins in your document, click File > Page Setup.

You’ll then see the following pop-up box where you can change the margins.
If you need the same margins in every document you create, save time and hit Set as Default. This will automatically copy your margin set-up to all new documents.

Changing Page Orientation to Landscape
Looking to change the orientation of your document? Head to File > Page Setup.

Then, select Landscape under Orientation.
If you want all of your documents to have the same orientation, press Set as Default.

Adding a Text Box
Text boxes are a great option if you’re looking to add an extra visual element to your document. They allow you to position additional text anywhere on your page without altering the format of your existing document.
In Google Docs, text boxes are classified as drawings. You can insert one by clicking Insert > Drawing.

This will open the Drawing feature. Next, press Text Box.
Drag your cursor into the drawing space to create a box that fits your requirements
Once your box has been created, it’s time to enter your text.
You can change the font, color, and alignment of the text in your box by using the navigation bar in the pop-up window.
Happy with your text box? Hit Save & Close to insert it into your document.
From here, treat your text box as an image. Select the image to change the alignment or move the box around your document for ideal placement.

Adding Page Numbers
Page numbers make your document easy to navigate and allow for better organization when printed — you’ll avoid asking yourself, “Does this page go here … or there?”
Add page numbers to your document by clicking Insert > Header > Page Number. Then choose the option of your choice.

Creating a Hanging Indent
Hanging indents are indents that automatically change the margin of a paragraph without interrupting the format used elsewhere on your page.
Here’s an example:
To add a hanging indent in Google Docs, make sure your ruler is visible by pressing View > Show Ruler.
Then, head back to your main document and highlight the text you want to format.
Add a hanging indent by locating the ruler above your document and sliding the blue arrows to your specification.
Slide the arrow on the left side to alter the left indent, and the arrow on the right side to change the right indent.

Inserting an Image
To add an image to your document, simply put your cursor wherever you want to insert the image.
Scroll up to the top of the page and click Insert > Image.
Choose the image location — there are multiple options that include your computer, the web, Google Drive, or by URL.
Select your image, click Open, and voila! Your image should appear.

Creating a Table of Contents
If you’re writing a presentation or whitepaper, a table of contents is a great way to display each section you’re creating and the page number that it can be found on.
You can insert a table of contents in your Google Doc by ensuring all subheadings are formatted with a heading tag. To do this, highlight your subheading and press the appropriate tag in your formatting bar.
As a general rule of thumb, the Heading 1 tag should be your main title. Heading 2 tags should be subheadings, and Heading 3 tags should be sections below a subheading.
Now you’re ready to create a table of contents. Hold your cursor where you’d like to insert it and click Insert > Table of contents to choose an option based on your preference.

Editing Your Document in Google Docs
Google Docs offers a variety of editing features to ensure your work reaches full potential.

Tracking Changes
If you’re working with another person on your document, you can ask them to track their changes and edits. This will show you who made the edits, when they made those edits, and what the text was prior to their edits.
You can track changes in Google Docs by changing Editing to Suggesting in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Then, when someone edits your document, any changes will show up in a different color, with a box on the right-hand side to show their name, photo, and editing details.
You can then browse the tracked changes and accept or reject them as necessary.

Adding Comments
With Google Docs, you and your team can leave comments in any document for each other to view. These are often used as reminders to come back to a specific section, leave more detailed revision ideas, or add URLs to other sites and images for reference.
To do this highlight the word, sentence, or paragraph you want to comment on and click the Add Comment button (the text box with the plus sign inside).
You can then write a comment — or paste a URL — in the comment box. Click Comment when you are ready to post your box.
To edit the information in the box, click the three dots on the right and select Edit. You can also thread comments beneath the original comment by typing in the Reply box.

To get rid of a comment box you can either delete it or resolve the comment. Click the three dots on the right and select Delete to delete the box. Click Resolve in the top right of the box when the issue has been resolved and you no longer need the comment.

Finding Word Count
Have you ever struggled while writing a paper, report, or blog post because of a required word count that you were trying to reach?
Although reaching a required word count may not always be easy, Google Docs makes the count itself simple.
Once you’re in your document, click Tools > Word Count. (You can also use the shortcut ⌘ + Shift + c.)

Google will then display the total number of words (along with the total number of pages, characters, and characters excluding spaces).

To count the words within a specific sentence, paragraph, or page, highlight the text you want to include and follow the same steps above.

Running Spell Check
It’s not uncommon even for professional writers to make an occasional spelling mistake. Google Docs can help all writers with this dilemma.
Run a spell check to locate and correct any errors you may have missed. Think of it as your personal proofreader or editor.
To run a spell check in Google Docs, click Tools > Spelling > Spell check.
Google Docs will then scan your entire document for misspelled words and grammatical errors. You’ll be given the choice to accept or ignore Google’s suggestion.
If you find that you’re frequently using a word that Google doesn’t recognize, you can add it to your dictionary. This will prevent Google Docs from highlighting the word in future spell checks.

Adding a Strikethrough
In Google Docs you can add a strikethrough by highlighting the text you want to strike and clicking Format > Strikethrough.

Using Google Docs Add-Ons
You can add third-party tools, or add-ons, to your documents. These add-ons contain unique features to help you improve your work in various ways.

THE GUNNERS are fast becoming the punters new best friend.
Not because they’re consistent, but because they’re easy to back against.
Unai Emery desperately needed the international break after his side went on a dismal run of five without a win, culminating in the 2-0 surrender against Leicester at the King Power.
It feels like the fanbase is starting turn on Arsene Wenger’s successor, with Arsenal 17 points off top-spot after just twelve games of the season.
As revealed by SunSport, the Spaniard has been given a month to save his job, starting with this clash against Southampton at the Emirates.
On paper, the Spaniard couldn’t have asked for a better game to kick-start both his reign and the season.
Saints sit second bottom of the table with eight points from their 12 matches and without a Premier League win since September 14.
Their three games since the embarrassing nine-goal surrender against Leicester have at least shown the squad has some guts.
But unfortunately for Southampton fans, it doesn’t look like that will be enough to save them this term.
They might have scored in all three of those matches, but they’ve also garnered a grand total of zero points.
Everything points towards an Arsenal victory, despite their recent troubles.
7But are you mad enough – seriously – to back the Gunners at a pitiful 1/2 to win the game?
If you are, good luck. But we want better value if we’re going to trust this Arsenal side with our hard-earned cash.
They’ve conceded in six of their nine home matches this term, with Saints netting on all but one of their games on the road.
6/10 on both teams to score is short, but easy to back with this shambolic Gunners defence.
As is the impressive 17/10 on Arsenal to end their losing run, but let one in at the other end. There’s your value.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted eight in his first eight of the season, but has just one in his last six.
The 13/5 on him to open the scoring is long as a result – well worth a Saturday afternoon flutter.

PEP GUARDIOLA’s men simply can’t afford another slip up.
Their clash before the international break was billed as a title decider – and they blew it, blown away at Anfield by Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal football.
They’re back to Eastlands this week and this one looks set to be a cracker.
Chelsea on the road this season have been a joy to watch, with Frank Lampard happy to loosen the leash on his talented, attacking young squad.
That’s resulted in goals – and plenty of them – as the Blues have propelled themselves up to third-place on the back of six consecutive Premier League wins.
City are in unfamiliar territory, languishing back in fourth with Leicester and today’s visitors sauntering past them a fortnight ago.
When Guardiola calls for a response, usually he gets one.
But we really like what Lampard is doing with this Chelsea side – and all the value is with the visitors.

These two have contributed 62 in their combined 24 Premier League games this campaign, with Chelsea the top away goalscorers with eighteen and City the top home scorers with nineteen.

You can get 23/20 on over 1.5 goals in the first half at the Etihad – that’s overpriced for two sides who will want to race out of the blocks.

Sheff Utd vs Man Utd – Sunday, 4.30pm
THE Chris Wilder revolution continues at Bramall Lane.
It’s been some return to the big-time for the Blades, who occupy a European spot as they welcome Man Utd to South Yorkshire.
Wilder has built this team from the ground up to be hard-working, disciplined and above all, effective.
So basically everything that this current Man Utd team aren’t.
There are signs that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are turning a little corner, with five wins from their last six matches.
But that non-performance at Bournemouth – which saw them fall to a dismal 1-0 defeat – still rings the alarm bells if you’re thinking of having a play on the away win.
Away from Old Trafford this season, United have taken just FIVE points a possible 18.
And you only have to look at their dreadful return of five goals from those games to see why.
The Blades have carved out three vital home victories already, all of them to nil over Burnley, Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

It says a lot that Man Utd are 6/5 to beat a newly-promoted side. How the mighty have fallen.
That’s a big price and we’ve absolutely no problem with you backing that – £22 back from a tenner on a Man Utd victory is well worth a go.
But we reckon the safer play is the 6/10 on under 2.5 goals.
Out of their combined 24 games in this season’s Premier League, these two teams have only played in seven matches which have featured three or more goals.
Wilder will have his side well drilled defensively and if they’re to spring another shock – if we can even call it that – they’re likely to take it 1-0 or hold Ole’s men to yet another 1-1.
John Lundstram is the heartbeat of this side and is a massive 5/1 to net anytime. Not first, at ANY time. Lump on.
He bagged two here against Burnley and you should be all over that for a Sunday afternoon money maker.

The Deceptively Important Part of Your SEO Strategy



When I first heard the term robots.txt, I’ll admit, I didn’t know what it meant. Instinctively, I imagined R2D2 from “Star Wars” and thought, “What do robots have to do with SEO?”
If you’re anything like me, technical SEO isn’t always easy to understand.
However, in a study with seoClarity and BuzzStream, out of 240 SEO specialists, 59% of all respondents reported that the most effective SEO strategy used was technical onsite optimization.
So, whether we understand it or not, technical SEO will continue to play a large role in our marketing strategies.

Below, we’ll review what a robots.txt file is and how to use it in your strategy. Plus, we’ll cover how to create, add, and edit a robots.txt file on your site.

What is a robots.txt file?
A robots.txt file tells search engines how to crawl and index the pages on your site. It’s important because it helps as search engines crawl your site and index content to serve users looking for that information. You can allow or disallow search engines from indexing a page. Search engines will look for a robots.txt file before crawling your site to see if there are any instructions.
Like any technical aspect of SEO, a robots.txt file has its own language. Here are some of the main terms you’ll see and what they mean:
User-agent: The search engine.
Disallow: Tells a search engine not to crawl a certain URL.
Allow: Tells a search engine it can access a web page.

How to Use Robots.txt

Keep pages on your site private.
Prevent search engines from indexing files.
Allow search engines to crawl any page on your site.
Disallow search engines to crawl certain pages or your whole site.

You might be wondering, why would I want certain pages on my site hidden or to tell a search engine not to crawl my site?
Ultimately, it’s because you want to direct the search engines to crawl the most important pages on your site and not get bogged down with unimportant, private, or similar pages.
Let’s review the best ways to use a robots.txt file:
1. Keep pages on your site private.
Does your site have any internal pages? For instance, perhaps users log on to your site and see gated information. Or, maybe, you have employees log in to your site to see HR information. Either way, you’ll want those pages on your site to be private, meaning you don’t want them to show up in search engines. That’s why you can disallow search engines from crawling those pages in a robots.txt file.
Additionally, if you’re creating a test site for a client, you don’t necessarily want that site to be crawled or indexed by search engines. In fact, you really only want the client to see that site. To do this, you’ll want to disallow search engines from indexing these pages.
2. Prevent search engines from indexing files.
Sometimes you might add PDFs or other files to your site for users to download. This could even be duplicate content on your site that you’re repurposing for marketing purposes. However, you most likely don’t want these files to be indexed by search engines. You can disallow these pages from being crawled by adding them to your robots.txt file.
3. Allow search engines to crawl any page on your site.
Although having a robots.txt file isn’t necessary, if you want search engines to crawl every page, providing instructions can speed up the process. You can easily create a robots.txt file that instructs search engines to crawl every page on your site.
4. Disallow search engines to crawl certain pages or your whole site.
Sometimes, you might not want a search engine to crawl any page on your site. For example, during HubSpot employee training, new hires are expected to create a website using the HubSpot product. However, these sites are just for the project and employees typically don’t want these to be indexed by search engines. That’s why they create a robots.txt file that says to disallow crawling any page on the site.
Additionally, you can block specific search engines from specific pages on your site. For instance, you can label the user-agent as “Google,” and disallow private content.
Although you’ll want to disallow search engines from crawling and indexing certain pages, a robots.txt file can instruct search engines, but not enforce it. That means that even though your robots.txt file might instruct a search engine not to crawl a page, it can’t actually prevent it from being indexed. To do that, you’ll want to use noindex and nofollow directives.
So, you might be wondering why you need to use a robots.txt file, if it can’t prevent a page from being indexed. The answer is that the robots.txt file is there to help search engines crawl your site faster and prioritize the pages it crawls. It won’t technically block any page from the search engines.
How to Create & Add a Robots.txt File to Your Website
Creating a robots.txt file is actually a simple process.
All you need to do is open a plain text editor, like TextEdit or Notepad. Then, you can copy the language and syntax from Google.
For example, your robots.txt file will look something like this:
User-agent: *
Allow: /
You can define the user-agent — an asterisk means all search engines. Then, you can write “allow” or “disallow” and specify the pages.
Before you add this file to your site, you can test it using Google’s testing tool.
Once you’ve written your file, you’ll want to upload it to your site’s top-level directory. This means you’ll go into the Cpanel and click “Add File.”
Keep in mind that robots.txt files may not be supported by all search engines.

How to Find Your Robots.txt File

Finding a robots.txt file is an easy process. First, type in your domain. Then, add /robots.txt to the end of the URL. This should bring up a robots.txt file. If it doesn’t, that means you don’t have one set up. For example, this might look like www.example.com/robots.txt. Search engines will only look at this URL. If there isn’t a robots.txt file here, it’ll assume there isn’t one and will proceed to crawl the page.

Robots.txt files are publicly available, meaning you can add /robots.txt to any site and see their site’s file, if they have one. Additionally, most robots.txt files contain the location of any sitemaps associated with the domain.

How to Edit Your Robots.txt File

Find your robots.txt file in your CMS.
Delete the text.
Add in text from your plain text editor.

Again, editing your robots.txt file isn’t difficult. Just follow these steps:
1. Find your robots.txt file in your CMS.
This process looks slightly different depending on your content management system (CMS). For example, finding it in WordPress and HubSpot are two different processes. Typically, if you go to the editor for your website and click “Settings,” you should find an SEO tab. Here’s where your robots.txt file should live.
If you aren’t using a CMS that makes this process easy, you can also login to your hosting account website, go to “File Management” and look for your robots.txt file. Then, you should be able to open it for editing.
2. Delete the text.
Once you’ve got the file open, delete all the text that’s in there. Yes, that’s all you need to do in this step.
3. Add in text from your plain text editor.
Lastly, copy and paste the text that you wrote in your plain text editor. Then, click “Save.” You’re all done.
Technical SEO and robots.txt files sound more complicated than they actually are. By helping search engines crawl your website quickly, your rankings could vastly improve.
